How our hackathons work

Build a project from scratch around a theme — no experience required, with workshops and mentors throughout.

Problem-solve

Every hackathon has a real-world theme. Design a solution that could actually make an impact.

Work with friends

Compete solo or in teams of up to four. No team? We'll help you find one.

Learn new skills

Workshops run throughout, and mentors are on standby to help your team build.

Hackathons run 24–48 hours and are open to students in grades 6–12. Projects are judged on theme adherence, originality and creativity, technical complexity, usefulness, and presentation.

Common questions

What if I don't know how to code?
No experience necessary. We hold workshops throughout the hackathon and have mentors on standby to help with your project.
Can high schoolers volunteer?
Yes — high-school mentors (grades 9–12) with a CS background help teams during the event. See the volunteer page to get involved.
How long does each hackathon last?
Between 24 and 48 hours. If a deadline lands at an inconvenient time in your time zone, email us and we'll make arrangements.
